Sunnuntai 09.10.16 Pedrouso. Toiseksi viimeinen vaelluspäivä tällä caminolla alkoi kylmänä ja sumuisena Ribadisossa. Espanjassa alkaa olla jo syksy. Kymmenet vaeltajat Pedrouson monesta albergasta purkautuivat hyvin vaatetettuina, monilla pipot päässään ja hansikkaat käsissään aamuhämärissä kolealle taipaleelleen. Paksu sumu peittää laaksot, hämärtää näkemisen muutamaan kymmeneen metriin ja tekee maiseman mielenkiintoisen pehmeäksi. "Sumu on kuvaajan paras retussi" on joku ammattivalokuvaaja joskus täsmentänyt. Niin se varmaan on. Kyllä siihen kannattaa harrastajakuvaajankin uskoa.

Sunday 09.10.16 Pedrouso. The second last day in this camino began cold and foggy in Pedrouso. It seems to be autumn in Spain. Tens of pilgrims of those many albergas in Pedrouso bursted out on camino route with warm clothes, some of them with wollen caps in heads, some with gloves in their hands. A very thick fog covers valleys and shades the visibility to 10-20 meters and changes the wiew soft. "The fog is the best retouch for a photographer" used a well-known photographer
to say. For sure it is so.

Vaeltajien määrä näin lähellä Santiagoa on todella suuri. Vaikka on varhainen sunnuntaiaamu, monet reitin varren kahvilat avaavat ovensa varhain kulkijoita varten ja hyvästä syystä. Kahvilapöydät täyttyvät pian, puheensorina täyttää ilman, WC-jonot syntyvät ja etenevät sopuisasti ja baaritiskin takana työskentelevillä kiirettä riittää. Tämä näyttää iloiselta suurten joukkojen liikuntatapahtumalta enemmän kuin ahtaasti tulkiten pyhiinvaellusta tekevien taukohetkeltä. Onko se hyvä ja oikein - en minä sitä halua mennä rajaamaan. Näillä ihmisillä näyttää olevan mukavaa yksilöinä ja keskenään. Siitä on tässä kaaosta, väkivaltaa ja ihmisten keskinäistä vastakkainasettelua ruokkivassa maailmassa kaikki syyt olla iloinen. Tässä on näiden ihmisten hyvä olla.

The number of pilgrims here so close to Santiago is really big. Even though we are living early Sunday morning, many cafes and bars open their doors and tables for pilgrims and with a good reason - customers. Tables and terraces are full of people in a minute, lines of people in front of WC-doors appear and move on peacefully and waiters and professionals behind the counter are more than busy serving this smiling group of pilgrims. For me and my eyes this looks more like a mass event for sport and motion than a coffee break of pilgrims. Right or wrong - that is something I do not want to define. These people seem happy and feeling well as individuals and as "participants" of this pilgrimage. I have all the reasons to be happy because of this. In this world full of chaos, violence, and many kinds of tendencies to discriminate and set peoples against each other we really need occasions where people can feel togetherness as only being human beings. I am sure that most of these people do not know much of each others backgrounds, political ideas, religion, social and economical status etc. They have just met on the route 400 kilometers or 4 kilometers ago, walked together, slept in bunk beds side by side in albergas, washed their dirty socks manually at the same time in albergas washrooms and eaten cheap dinners together in same bars and restaurants and most important of all, created a human contact. Here I can see these people feeling well.  At the moment this is enough for me.

Aurinko nousee, nujertaa sumun ja pian lämpötila nousee yli 20 asteen. Pedrousoa lähestyttäessä reitti kulkee pitkät ajat miellyttävän vihreässä lehvistössä korkeitten eukalyptuspuiden tai tammien varjossa. Siellä on kulkijan miellyttävää vaeltaa.

The sun is rising, conquers the fog and soon the temperature rises over 20 degrees. When approaching Pedrouso the route finds its way in pleasant green paths shaded by high eucalyptus trees or big oaks.
