21.09.16 San Pedro de Rosados, 28 kilometriä. Tänään aamu Fuenterroble de Salvatierressä oli kylmä. Kylän viehättävässä albergassa (Alberque Parroquial) oli kovin rauhallista - minä olin siellä ainut vaeltajayöpyjä. Toki illalla kylän rattoisasta baarista palatessani osuin albergan olohuoneessa meneillään olevaan palaveriin, jossa toimintaa johtava seudun pappi ja muutama vapaaehtoinen tekivät suunnitelmia albergan tulevaisuudesta. Pappi oli vauhdikas mies, tempaisi minut heti pöytään ja kuultuaan skandinaavisuuteni halusi tietää, miten norjalaisten Pyhän Olavin vaellus ja ruotsalaisten Pyhän Birgitan vaellus saataisiin paremmin kytkettyä Santiago de Compostelan vaelluksiin. No enhän minä sitä tiedä. Kohteliaisuudesta siinä muutama yleislöysä repliikki vaihdettiin ja minä väsymystä valitellen sain liuettua paikalta. Alberga sinänsä on mielenkiintoinen paikka tutustuttavaksi ja yövyttäväksi. Yksikerroksinen kivinen sokkeloinen rakennuskokonaisuus, jonne on aika autenttisesti saatu vanhoilla kalusteilla ja varusteilla säilytettyä vanhan rakennuksen ilmapiiri. Silti tarpeelliset suihku- ja saniteettitilat ovat modernia tasoa. Tässä kylässä ja seuraavana lepopaikkana toimivassa San Pedro de Rosadosissa majoittuvan on hyvä tietää, ettei kylissä ole pankkiautomaattia (seuraava on vasta Salamancassa).

Aamu oli tosiaan kylmä. Vaellushousuihin piti liittää pitkät lahkeet ja fleecepusero vetää päälle. Oli vähällä ettei hengitys höyrynnyt ensimmäisiä askeleita ottaessa, melkein hansikkaita kaipasi. Mutta kun vähän aikaa askeltaa, vanha diesel lämpiää ja nouseva aurinko hoitaa loput. Katkolahkeet nykäistään pois ja fleece joutaa rinkkaan. Tälläkin kertaa reitti tarjosi paljon nähtävää. Pääosan matkaa reitti seuraa vanhaa roomalaisten tietä. Kaivauksia on tehty, niitä esitteleviä paikkoja ja esittelytekstejä tulee toistuvasti vastaan.

21.09.16 San Pedro de Rosados, 28 kilometers. Last night in a very pittoresque Alberque Parroquial of Fuenterroble de Salvatierra was very peaceful. I was the only pilgrim sleeping there. In the late evening, when I was coming "home" from friendly nearby bar, I entered into a meeting in alberga´s livingroom. The local priest, in charge of all these activities dealing with alberque and pilgrims going through and some volunteers were making plans for the future. The priest was a man in action. After handshaking he almost pulled me to the table and after having heard that I was a Scandinavian, he wanted my opinion how pilgrimage Saint Olaf in Norway and pilgrimage Saint Birgitte in Sweden could be joint somehow in co-operation with Caminos to Santiago. Unfortunately I really do not know. After some snacks and some smalltalk I could use my tiredness as an excuse and leave. The alberque is an interesting place to see and where to sleep. A stony old building with very old furniture - a peaceful atmosphere. In spite of that all those for showers and toilets are modern and clean. For a person who wants to have a break here and the next village San Pedro de Rosados must remember that these villages do not have cajero automatico - provide yourself with cash before coming here.

This morning was cold in Fuenterroble de Salvatierre. Hiking trousers needed long sleeves, a fleecejacket was needed and probably also gloves for hands could have been a pleasant option. But after half an hour hiking the old diesel gets warm and the rising Spanish sun does the rest. Trousers can be shorts again and fleece can be put back into the backpack. This time, too there were so much to see. Mostly the route follows the old Roman road. Excavations has been done, the results are seen and informationtables tell the rest.

Tähän rakennettiin noin 2000 vuotta sitten roomalainen tie, jolle olisi voinut antaa 2000 vuoden takuun. On siinä haastetta Destialle. - Romans built this road about 2000 years ago. They could have been able to give it a 2000 years guarantee. There is some challenge for today´s road constructors.

Reitti kulkee edelleen pitkin karjalaitumia ja niiden välissä. Lehmät, lampaat ja mustat siat laiduntavat polun molemmin puolin. Tällä kertaa kohtaan todellisen yllätyksen, jota en ole koskaan kohdannut. Näen kotkapariskunnan istuvan puun latvassa ja meluni säikäyttäminä ne nousevat majesteetillisina valtaville siivilleen ja leijuvat pois. Jess! Se saattoi olla "once in lifetime" -kokemus, joka ei ehkä tule toistumaan. Yritin olla nopea valokuvaaja. Sain tulokseksi kolme erittäin tarkkaa ruutua sinisestä taivaasta. Caceresin ympäristön luonnonpuistoissa etenkin korppikotkien pesimisen ja oleskelun kerrotaan olevan erittäin yleistä. Niin näyttää olevan täälläkin.

The route goes again along fields and between them. Cows, lambs and black pigs can be seen on both sides of the route. This morning I meet a real surprise that I have never met in my life. I see two eagles sitting on the top of the tree. Even though I try to do my approach as silent as I can, they rise on their huge wings and fly majestetically away. Huh! It could be "once in a lifetime"- experience that probably will never be repeated. I tried to be a fast photographer. My result was three sharp photos of the blue sky - unfortunately. In nature parks in Caceres surroundings specially vultures (maybe eagles too) are very common and easily observed.

Tänä päivänä myös keskiaikainen pyhiinvaellusreitti Camino Mozarabe / Camino via de la Plata ja moderni, uusiutuva energiatuotanto kohtaavat. Vaellusreitti tekee pitkän nousun harjanteen laelle ja päältä alkaa valkoisten tuulimyllyjen pitkä rivistö harjanteelta toiselle. Espanjan luonnonolosuhteet ovat erityisen edulliset uusiutuvalle energiantuotannolle, joista etenkin kaksi kannattaa mainita. Aurinkoenergian talteen ottaminen on täällä luonnollisesti erittäin järkevää. Toisinaan pyhiinvaeltajakin saattaa reitillään kohdata valtavan aurinkoenergian keräämisalueen, jossa valtavien, sivuiltaan ehkä kymmenen metriä pitkien ja leveitten aurinkopaneelien armeija tuijottaa aurinkoa ja tietokoneiden ohjaamana kääntyy hitaasti koko ajan kuin scifi-elokuvan monsteri kohti aurinkoa sen liikettä seuraten. Tuulivoimaa Espanja hyödyntää myös runsaasti. Kerrotaan, että Espanjan koilliskolkan maakunta Navarra on EU-maitten tuulisinta aluetta - se asia tämän maan kannattaa hyödyntää. Navarrassa, pyhiinvaellusreittien Ranskalaisen reitin kulkijat voivatkin nähdä Pyreneitten rinteitä kulkevia valkoisten tuulimyllyjen jonoja melkein silmiin näkymättömiin.

Today a medieval pilgrimage route Camino Mozarabe / Camino via de la Plata shakes hands with modern production of renewable energy. Camino route goes high on the ridge and on the top long rows of white windmills can be seen from this ridge to another and another... The nature is very favourable for Spain when it is the question of production of renewable energy. Two of them are essential. Sun and the wind. This sunny country has done a lot to use the sun. Also pilgrimage routes can lead a hiker to see huge areas where army of wide square solarpanels, perhaps 10 meters high and wide are staring the sun and step by step, like monsters in a sci-fi-movie move their faces to the sun all the time for optimal result. Spain collects and uses windpower very much. It has been told that province ov Navarra in the nort-east corner of Spain is the windiest area in the whole European Union. That is why it is not a big surprise that a pilgrim, walking over the Pyrenees on Camino Francais can often meet very long rows of windmills on hills on Pyrenee mountains.

Vaikka San Pedro de Pedrosas onkin pieni kylä, vaeltaja voi saada siellä hyvän palvelun. Heti kylään tultua pikkukadun oikealla puolella on vastassa Hotel Rural VII Carreras. Yrittäjä Mari Carmen de la Iglesia pyörittää Anna apunaan kokonaisuutta, josta kulkija löytää asiallisen albergan (7€ / yö), hotellihuoneen 20€/yö) ja mukavat ravintolapalvelut. Ja erittäin ystävälliset palvelut.

Even though San Pedro de Pedrosas is a little village, a pilgrim can have here a friendly and good service. Just when have reached the village a hiker meets Hotel Rural VII Carreras on the right side  of the street. Mari Carmen de la Iglesia is running this business with Anna consisting an alberque (7€/night), a hotel (20€/a night) and cosy restaurant services. I really can recommend.
